Support Barnsdall Art Park this Holiday
Dear Patron, Barnsdall Art Park is the only public community art park in Los Angeles and we need your support. This holiday season we are offering a unique opportunity to give your loved ones and friends a gift that is like no other, while simultaneously supporting our efforts to maintain and protect the park, its icons and the integrity of its community based arts programming. Consider these holiday gift opportunities: To make a donation, please visit: http://holidays.barnsdall.org/ 2010 has been one of great pride for Barnsdall Art Park Foundation, the support organization for Barnsdall Art Park: Barnsdall Art Center held over 150 weekly classes for children and adults. Frank Lloyd Wrights Hollyhock House hosted over 10,000 guests in guided tours, while it continues to be restored and refurnished. The Municipal Art Gallery held 7 exhibitions showcasing contemporary Los Angeles artistsincluding an Open Call for hundreds of local artists judged by curators from LACMA and the Hammer Museumand generated significant accolades throughout the artistic community as a result. The Barnsdall Friday Summer Wine Tastings have brought over 6,000 people to enjoy the majestic setting of the park and Hollyhock House. Saturday evenings in October, the Park hosted hundreds of people to enjoy screenings of architecturally significant films shot in our surrounding community. Your support of the wine tasting and movie night events helped sponsor Free Art Sundays, offering over 1,500 children and adult community members the opportunity to explore the fine art with the creativity of own hands. We hope you share our pride in these accomplishments, as well as our desire to achieve much more. While Barnsdall Art Park has emboldened a community arts renaissance, the struggling economy has put extreme pressure on the Park. The City department which runs much of the Park, has had its staff and budget severely cut. As a consequence, the City has initiated a process to partner with a non-profit organization to sustain Barnsdall Park in the future. The Barnsdall Art Park Foundation continues to work with the City to ensure that this process does not strip the community of the wonderful resource it has had for over 50 years. For the last 10 years, the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation has been raising money and funding projects to enhance the Park. We ask for your help so we can continue this important work. To make a donation, please visit: http://holidays.barnsdall.org/ This email was sent to 582zehuw@tumblr.com by info@barnsdall.org.
